I don't usually like to read Holocaust memoirs because they are too painful. However, two years ago I was in Aventura Florida and met Leah and Manucha. They told me of their book writing venture and said the book would be published soon.Before reading My Eyes Looking Back at Me, I had the pleasure of casually getting to know Leah. I was impressed with strong character, love of life, and personal determination. Although I did not see Leah again, I couldn't wait to read her story. I found that the book focused on Leah's courage to survive, her inner strength, and unwavering faith despite having to endure horrific brutality, starvation, inhumane acts, and unbearable shame. These acts against humanity happened in our lifetime. Those that were subject deserve to be recorded and heard. We think this is so far removed from the United States. It's not. For as long as bullying, antisemitism , and hate crimes are tolerated, as long as decent people turn their heads and allow hatred to grow, history can repeat itself.Leah's story is an easy read that is uplifting and inspirational Bravo to Leah for having the courage to tell her story and to Manucha for using her writing skills and love to record it.
